QUILT SHOW in Chester, PA--Quilts Tell Stories

This show opens to the public on Saturday, February 28, 2009.  It is in West Chester, PA.  For those who do not drive, the #104 bus from 69th Street Terminal (in Philadelphia) goes to West Chester.  Get off at the Rite-Aid and walk north about one block to the Chester County Historical Society.  (High Street)

Layers: Unfolding the Stories of Chester County Quilts #1 February 27, 2009 through August 1, 2009 Come and see some of the community’s many quilts documented by the historical society and numerous community volunteers. Read some of the stories they tell and find out what people all over the county have been creating for the past 200 years. Show Hours are Wednesday - Saturday 10 am - 5 pm Location:  Chester County Historical Society                 225 N. High Street                 West Chester, PA Cost:        $6.00 Programs: The spring Homeschooler Day focuses on how quilts tell stories. From 9:00-11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, March 25, elementary age students view the quilts on display as well as  do hands-on activities related to history and art. Cost is $5 per student. On March 28, teachers may preview the exhibit and the onsite and outreach programs  developed for Layers. The workshop that runs from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon is free, but call 610-692-4800 x203 to reserve a space. Act 48 credit is given. Girl Scouts can complete their Folk Art Badge on Saturday, April 18 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Cost is $15 per Scout; call 610-692-4800 x203 to register
